Spring Break is over!

Well, with Spring Break behind us now we are going to be working very hard until the end of the year. There are a lot of things coming up in our class. We are going to be taking 3, 3(!!!!!) field trips over the next couple months! We are headed to Doris Ranch, The Cascades Raptor Center, and The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. We are also going to be having some class visitors to teach us about being a weatherman and some ladies that are going to put on a puppet show for us.

Upcoming in math we are going to continue our work on measurement, but soon we will move on to telling time and after that it'll be laying the foundations for multiplication. I love multiplication, so I'm looking forward to teaching it very soon. I know some students may feel intimidated by this topic, but we'll break it down into its parts so that every student will see just what it means to multiply numbers.

Reading will continue on the same path as it has all year. We will continue taking the end of week reading test too, but I will stop reading it aloud and students will have to read it on their own.

By the end of this year in writing I am hoping to get us all on the path toward a 3 paragraph piece of writing with a strong beginning, middle, and end.

Science is going to be exciting too, I hope! With a little help I am developing a unit that will start with learning about birds, then moving on to human flight. There will be many different ways we learn about these topics including using our iPads, computers, and building structures of our own. I am looking forward to all the investigations, research, and fun we will be having!

Here are the spelling words for the week:

Thanks for all of your support. As always, if you have questions, feel free to call or email!
