This week we have started learning about fractions. Yesterday we practiced folding some strips of paper into equal parts. Folding 1 whole, 1/2, and 1/4 were easy, but 1/3 and 1/6 took a bit of practice! We are going to start talking about how to recognize fractions in everyday life, and I was thinking this is a great thing to practice at home!

Think about it, next time you eat a pizza as a family, talk about how much of the pizza has been eaten, and how much is left! Do you cut it into equal slices? I know we do at my house. Think about who ate the largest fraction of the pizza. Was it Mom? Dad? The dog? :)

Thanks for sending in your samples of dirt from home, we are going to be exploring those soon!
